I was fortunate enough to be gifted this kit by a friend of a friend just before christmas, to say I was shocked woyld be an understatement, but chuffed would probably also describe my feelings too!!!

It has been started years ago by the previous owner but fortunately for me the chrome was not attipped and all parts simply popped apart with an x-acto swipe. The bogger issue is I am completely missing one E sprue, however, I am sure I can cast or duplicate the missing parts with plastic sheet, and a message to Robert at RB motion let me know that he may make the velocity stacks soon which would be amazing.

Anyway, lots of research to be done and detail parts to be collected. I will build the Villeneuve car so I guess the decal sheet from bestbalsa is the first order of business, I think I'll start on it shortly just because it looks amazing and I will be sure to update here. This sub forum is great too, just found it, I'll certainly be asking a lot of questions!!!

Congratulations for grabbing this huge car.

I plan to do exactly the same car.The villeneuve car is also my choice and Wim's decals are perfect for it.
And yes,Robert seams to make a small bunch of sets for this car.I think i wrote enough mails where i ask him about it.

Great news.I will start mine as soon i finished my Porsche 956 and after the current Lancia Project.Somewhere in the middle of this year i think.
Hope to get some seat belts from Daniel too.

all the best
Christian

You will !! ...altough I'm in the decaldesigning mood at the moment I will pick up the Seatbelt soon. I also did a search in the internet about the best design. I guess I will make a set to replicate 2" and 3" belts....Not 100% sure about this but I guess they used 2" belts back then.

Thanks for the responses, I will definitely contact Wim shortly.

Regarding the belts, put me down for some too!! And I think they would definitely be 2", 3" belts only came in the 90's I believe.

Looking forward to getting going on this one!

I've been working on several kits recently but this big old girl keeps grabbing my attention!

As mentioned before I am missing one E Sprue so I thought why not start drawing up the missing pieces and send them to Shapeways while I finish up my current project. The plan was always to detail this kit up, it really deserves it and the more I look at pictures the more little pieces I see!!! Needless to say this will not be a short term project, but here are the first pieces I have modelled up in CAD, the upper throttle slide assemblies.

I intend to replace a lot of pieces and once I verify the size and fit I'll upload to shapeways if anyone is interested.

I am open to any and all suggestions so if anyone spots any glaring errors please let me know, this is a first shot across the bows and I already see ways to make it better so it will be tweaked.

I am very interested in any parts you create for this big Lotus.
There are so much tiny(hmm..tiny in the size compered to the rest of the car and not compered to the big scale   ) and so i would welcome to every additional part you create.
Thanks in advance

regards Christian

Will you be making the throttle return spring slides as separate parts? Interested in any detail parts you make, thanks for offering to share them.

Thanks for the interest, and I'm more than happy to share the parts, I'm doing this out of necessity as they are missing from my kit but this thing really does deserve the attention!!

Yes, the plan is to make seperate throttle return slides, I may draw up a photoetch sheet, still undecided, but the intake is coming together and looks great on my screen, I'll need to order some sample parts to check for fit soon and get on with the next pieces. U-joints for the axles are next, I intend to make them like the real HS1400 joints with push in caps to retain the coupler, Should be fun!!
