Re: The grail has landed
Picked up the threads of this now summer is over!
Body painting in progress. I'm making most of this mistakes a novice spray painter makes. Becoming good friends with wet and dry!
Rear suspension now assembled.

Re: The grail has landed
Looking good! Glad to see this continuing.
Yeah, even after all these years of spraying paint, wet & dry is still our friend!
Cheers,
Greg

Re: The grail has landed
My main problem is overloading the part with paint. I get runs and pinholing. Using rattle cans is a real skill! Still, I'm not deterred. I have so much more patience than when I was a kid!!
Re: The grail has landed
glad to see some progress, the M23 section of the forum has been real quiet of late.

Re: The grail has landed
OK, making progress with learning how to paint.
Just finished my first ever mask and spray project!
Pleased with the result. I am wary now of how to knock back the orange peel of the red paint. I guess its just easy does it with varying grades of polishing cloths used dry? Also though I might try T-Cut very gently.
Oh, and here is progress on the parallel project!

Re: The grail has landed
A bit more progress over the Christmas break.
The nose cone has been varnished, buffed with polishing cloths and then given a coat of carnuaba wax.
The cockpit coaming is a source of pain at the moment. As you can see it has a rough red basecoat finish because when I masked up to spray the inner edge a contrast white, some of the white seeped through gaps in the masking and ate into the polished red finish....arrgh! so have put another coat over prior to sanding back. And wouldn't you just know it, I'd run out of TS-36! I have no local stockists of specialist paints so have to buy everything in by mail. The new shipping prices must be killing trade!
I despair of my hamfisted-ness sometimes. Its tough putting your work up here compared to some of the pro standard work that gets shown. I'm also aware of the rarity of the model I have and the pressure that gives to make a good job. But live and learn eh?
