Re: M23 1974 Emerson Fittipaldi
Oh forgot to point out another point of interest.............@ this time, the windscreen is clear, not tinted yellow as his team mates is. Also notice the shape, this is a solid piece, not a piece added to the windscreen as you have seen on other screens in the past. I will have to scratch make this little feature.
I have done this for 1/72 AC but never have done this in 1/12th scale!
Rick
PS: later this evening, barrel machine will be used f/1st time to clean up the rear suspension cross member.

Re: M23 1974 Emerson Fittipaldi
Amazing..........the Otto Frie Mag Tumbler was well worth every penny spent.
If you use any type metal in the construction of your kits......ie: MFH: you would do yourself a great service in purchasing one of these little wonders.
Will post photos of the part after I have completed the drilling process.
Well pleased w/results..........

Re: M23 1974 Emerson Fittipaldi
Started back to work on the EF M23.
Began with one of the detail parts I ordered from Mac's Modeling........the aluminum rear suspension x-member. This is a quality made part, and Mac has done everything within his power to help keep the cost down on the production/re-sale of this part. Remember, I said aluminum, not white metal.
The part is received ready for finishing........ie: the ejection nib must be sanded away, best done with files, the the parting lines are filed away. Once the part was dressed, I used my Otto Frei Mag Tumbler to clean/polish the part.
I timed this for 20 mins since the alum is harder than white metal. Part came out most excellent , money for the Mag Tumbler was well spent.
Now the part was ready for drilling, 24 holes drilled in alum by hand, w/a pen drill using 1.0mm, 1.3mm & 1.5mm , was glad when this was completed.
Part has shallow holes already in part where to drill .
This will then be mounted to the transmission w/bolts & nuts, proto-typical.

Somehow I've totally missed this WIP - good attention to detail and great to see Mac's parts in action. Hopefully more parts and WIP updates will be here soon.

I am very pleased you are getting good use of the Magnetic Tumbler. I am a huge proponent of these machines and love mine.F1FANRH wrote:Amazing..........the Otto Frie Mag Tumbler was well worth every penny spent.

Re: M23 1974 Emerson Fittipaldi
I again have pulled this out and looking over it........I just keep wanting to build and not screw it up!
I pretty much have all the goodies to build......what I am not sure about is this, I have the Tamiya kit 12049, Yardley 1974.
What I want to know is this, can I use the rear wing/mount that comes in this kit and still be keeping the correct outline/set-up of this machine.
The mirrors will be used from a Protar kit 312T.
