I downloaded a translator scanner for my iPad and got at translation.
“The front wing-less you try at 80, try even 79. Only in Kyalami of the high-speed circuit it is determined that there is a decent benefits. However, in the race back to the wing with”
So nothing really new. The Road &Track article said that a lot of teams were trying to go without front wings on the Friday practice because of the Renault’s speed on the 6000’+ elevation circuit. So, the car ran this way either on Wednesday or Friday, but with not enough advantage on the straight to offset the loss of downforce in the turns.
I also read the Argentina and Brazil reports. Seems that the Goodyears tires for 1979 were an inch in diameter larger than the 1978 tires that the car was designed for. That was making a big difference in handling.
