Tamiya Lotus 79 complete
Hi All
Its been a looong time since I posted any of my builds on here. To be honest I lost a bit of motivation and got into aircraft again. But I have built a couple of cars so here is one of them: The Tamiya lotus 79. I found it enjoyable to build but this was a kit of firsts for me. First time using alcad and a bit of scratch building seat belts.
I sprayed the body aclad black base and was nice and shiny and added kit decals. Then I coated in Alclad aqua gloss clear and it didnt like going over the black or decals. In my panic I reached for the hairy stick and managed to save it. Considering the finish is brushed I was quite pleased but lesson learned. I also had a problem when fitting rear engine and gearbox assembly as one wheel didnt quite touch the ground. Seat belts were made from masking tape.
Anyway enough waffle here's some pics:

She looks pretty good. A nice, simple, jet black finish. A handsome build to be proud of.
Seat belts were made from masking tape!? Wow! How did you colour them? With a magic marker?
Cheers, Chris

Re: Tamiya Lotus 79 complete
Again apologies for not replying sooner, yes the belts were made from standard masking tape back to back. Then painted by brush a couple of coats which makes them more rigid. Then slice up with scalpel and superglue together. They worked out quite well.Eagle50 wrote:She looks pretty good. A nice, simple, jet black finish. A handsome build to be proud of.
