Re: A long time to finish a '78
Thanks for the encouragement.
Weekend spent on more plumbing works & my wife telling me that if she’s Colin I’ll be fired for taking so long to plumb the engine.
Finally completed the brake lines which was a struggle as the super glue is not that super anymore & refused to bond. The anti-roll bar is also finally fabricated & installed.
The right side is still missing the vertical link though. Have also figured out a way to prevent the Tamiya braided lines from fraying.
Simply super glue the portion that need to be cut & then you can have a tidy end. Just compared the glued & unglued ends which I’m not too keen to redo.
The trumpets were also enhanced with some snap buttons from the handicraft shop.
A few more thick hoses should conclude the plumbing works & then on to the throttle on the cam cover & wiring the dashboard…………

Re: A long time to finish a '78
A belated Merry Christmas & a Happy & Successful New 2016 to all in this fantastic forum.
Here’s a few pics of the result on the throttle linkage & dashboard wiring. Have also polished up the paint which has dulled after laying around for over 4 years.
Ronnie’s helmet, shown on top of my other WIP, is waiting for the visor. The plan for the inside padding is to use some “blue tack” to simulate it. Unfortunate I’ve only got black & green “blue tack”. Guess the padding will have to wait until I lay my hands on blue “blue tack”.
The final item will be the fire extinguisher on top of the gearbox which needed to be cut shorter & re-painted black.
As this started as a quick built of my decades old kit, the body was painted until detailing madness set in. Now I’m wondering whether I should cut the slot on top of the completed cowling & fabricate the front roll hoop which is poking up. Do you guys think I should take the risk & go for it or call it done?
Cheers
Lee

Re: A long time to finish a '78
I think this should conclude the wiring works.
The original decals for the dials are so dry & brittle that they needed 3 coats of “future” before I can use them. I’ve ruin 1 of them as 1 coat was insufficient. Clear plastic sheet was cut & stuck over them with more “future”. The dash was finally installed & some wires were added in the foot well to busy it up just for the heck of it.
Will not be able to cut the slot on the dash cowling as my JPS decals is installed too high up, which is just as well, as cutting the slot could ruin it in the event I mess up.
My target is to present this build in the “Completed” section before the year ends. But first, I’ll have to figure out a way to tie down the front brake lines & finish the visor. I’ll also stick with the green fire extinguisher as it’s too well painted to be cut up. I’ll replace it when I lay my hands on a ball point pen of suitable diameter.
Cheers & thanks again for all the encouragements.
