Maybe they sold not so much as they thought?
The first batch was sold but not fast enough to make a second run of it?
The kit was rated as not so good as far i remember.People always search the negative things and forget to be thankful that a new car in 1/12 was made.
I got one here, and i think its a great model of an iconic car.

Yes agree Christian, have built the car via locate&cement forum
It's very enjoyable build,a few things could have been a little better
but I''m thankful they released it!
At the time I thought Trumpeter will follow the GT40 with Porsches&Ferrari's

Re: Trumpeter in trouble with Ford GT40 1/12 license ?
This might be more complicated than you might think. The last time I heard Ford does not hold the rights to the name GT40, as crazy as that sounds way back in the day a gentleman here in Calgary applied for and got the rights to the name and that is why the new Ford GT was not called a GT40. I know this gentleman personally so this is not an urban legend, I have not talked to him much in the last couple of years but as far as I know the situation has not changed. That being said Ford holds all of the rights to the car and it's design, just not the name as I understand it.

The next bunch of GT40 can be preordered from Hiroboy and others.
So everything should be fine now.

Yes it's true...that is also the reason why the new one is a Ford GT and not GT40...IanMcLaren wrote:This might be more complicated than you might thinkeem.
