Speed Build : Stewart Ford SF-3 - Complete!!

Post by CBartholomew4677 »

Hello All,
Here I go to embark on the SB2010, my project will be a Stewart Ford SF-3 from S27. I'm planning to make it Johnny Herbert's car, in which he won for Stewart. I've had this kit for quite some time, since it was released in 1999, always saying I would build it, and again the F1M Group Build gives me motivation to build a it. Kit is standard older S27, resin body, which needs a bit of clean-up but should be OK, and white metal for the rest, with end-plated and barge-boards in p.e.

The coolest part about these older S27 kits are the full machined wheels, they look great, a shame to paint them at all.

I look forward to getting this one going.......and finishing....I hope  . I can't guarantee I'll make the time limit, but I'll give it a tryand see how it comes out. Well, here we go, oughtta be fun :D .
Cheer,
Chris

Great choice! And you're right, it's a shame to paint over those wheels, they look great.

Hello All,
Happy New Year to you all!!! :D :D

In the spirit of the Speed Build, I'm using the holidays to get the Stewart completed in time. I've got all the pieces of the Stewart cleaned-up (good scrubbing with dish-soap and the Dremel with a wire brush).

The body has scribed and holes drilled. I drilled out the exhausts, and will aluminum tubing for exhausts. I drilled the holes for the body fasteners, there were no "starter" holes, so F1 Modelling to the rescue!!

I know, not so exciting, but moving along nicely.
Next up,
1) Mount everything to toothpicks, prime and paint.
2) Finish cleaning the body putty, prime and paint.

I hope you all have had a good New Year holiday and the year looks bright ahead! 8)
Cheers,
Chris

At last someone is slower than me ;-) But I know this is going to change...
Nice start and crossing my fingers with your work, Chris!

Not exactly speeding along, but progress nonetheless. :D
I've been working on getting the body ready for painting, and I finally got it all assembled, revised and cleaned up enough to put the first coat of primer on it. First coat is light grey primer to highlight the improvement areas, but all subsequent coats will be white primer.

Exhausts will be made from aluminum tube and assembled from the inside of the body when time.

Hoping to have it all ready for painting by this weekend.
Cheers,
Chris
