Speed Build: Espo Larrousse Lamborghini Lola LC90

Post by Shunter »

Well this looks like it may be some fun. This is a kit I have had laying around forever, it has been in and out of the cupboard too many times. Right now I am leaning towards just a tidy OOB build. I have tried to re-do some old builds of late with no success so I hope this one goes better.
Right now I am leaning towards to Japan version seeing Suzuki got a 3rd place there. The car had quite a few different looks over the year so we shall see.

Decals had yellowed a little in the white sections, I stuck them in the window for a few hours and they seem to have come back to white.

I always thought that these old Hasegawa kits deserved some attention, and they were issued when there was more interest in 1/24 F1 kits, I think.
This will be a good looking model Shayne, if you do your usual thing with it.
Now, stop reading this, you only have three months to get it done !
Cheers

Mark this is the Hasewega kit. I have been working on getting the roll hoop glued in along with the side inlets for the radiators and now i can see why i have not gone further with this one earlier... The fit is quite average but nothing some putty and sanding will not hide. I am really starting to lean towards a curbside with this one.
Paint wise im leaning towards TS-15 for the blue, and i think i will paint the red and yellow on the cowl so i may see how Tamiya Bright Red and Chrome Yellow look, must admit i would like to use the yellow decal for the nose.

Shayne:

Use TS-55, it is a better representation of the color..

I have started this one as well.

Tamiya chrome yellow is NOT the same as the decal. What has slowed me down on mine, is painting a backing color of white for the yellow decals.
Perfectionist in the art of the unfinished kit......

I had a look at the Tamiya paint selection and you are right with the TS-55 i shall look into that when back at work on Monday. Well between trying to build a new deck i have managed to get some sanding and filling done. Who ever was the tool maker for this kit did not like it much, there are sink marks every where and that would be my pet hate  having to get rid of them. I thought Revell were bad with the Nascar kits but they are a dream compared to this. :D
But any way here are some pics just to show i am working on this one with all intentions to meeting the deadline.

Finally a small update as I have had a return to work this week it did slow things down some. Managed to finally get things into primer, the cowl took some time as the filler I have is old and was not helping. So now I will get into painting the suspension parts etc and maybe start getting things together.

OK I am now ready to paint and I have been toying with the idea of doing the whole body in the dark blue, then masking the yellow area, spray it with white primer then hit it with the yellow, followed by the red over that.
Anyone got any views on this, I am open to suggestions.
