I used Tamiya's thin tape.
I first painted the white, then added decals to get the red line, then a layer of clear to seal the decals (after a lot of microset and microsol), and then the blue. you can still see a thick border on the middle picture. I have found it is necessary to press the Tamiya tape down quite hard.

So, an update!

The 2006 is now decaled, and I have begun coating it with clear.
You can see the new wings that I have made.

For the rear wing, I had to take a spare 2008 decal, cut it into single letters, and place each individualy on the wing. The original is too big.
Sadly the kit decals are too big, having been made for the original parts that are not to correct size.

Still need to work on the wheels, so the model is not yet finished...

The 2008 car has hit a snag.
Being a faster car, it nearly caught up to the 2006 car, but while applying the decals, I noticed a big flaw in the kit.
The shoulder wings were too high!

I had fitted them according to the kits mounting points, and they were wrong!
So, sadly I have to make field repairs even after most of the car is nearly finished.

Also I have begun working on the 2010 car. It is going to be a lot of work.
Lots of putty and sanding is required. The exhaust covers were too big, so I replaced them with blobs of putty that can be sanded down easier than white metal...

FINISHED!

Here it is, my 8th model. My first multimedia kit, and my fist "conversion" so despite a few mistakes and inaccuracies, I am well pleased with the outcome. I feel it captures the spirit of the original 2006 Monza car quite well.

On to the next!
