Question for anyone who can help.
What's the color of the inside surface of the upper bodywork for the Brabham BT46?
The chassis is aluminum, but the bodywork is....fiberglass?? Flat black??
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Chris
Does this help?
Just unpaited fiberglass on the inside.
Hello All,
It's me again, and I've finally gotten something together that's not another little piece with nowhere to go!! At any rate, I got the front wing-radiator assembly together. I made a bit of changes and added a lot of stuff, so it's easier to say what's original.......The wing, the rest I've modified, remade, or made new. It looks a little fussy, but I think it compares well to the real car, you can see the pic earlier in the thread.
Have a look, hope you enjoy. Comments and feedback always welcome.
Cheers,
Chris
Hello All,
How's it going out there?
Still making progress on the Brabham BT46.
I've finished the upper-body : painted, decaled and sealed. I'm pretty happy with the outcome. Just have to paint the inside and add the decals.
Chassis has been largely put together. I washed the aluminum portion and have started getting the little bits together.
I've decided to replace the front shocks with a set from RB Motion. Not done yet, but you can see the direction I'm going.
Hope you all enjoy.
Cheers,
Chris
All looking very good Chris, the work and effort is now paying back, this will be one cool Brabham.Love the shock's and I'll try to source some here in the UK.

Hello All, again!!
Updates are coming fast and furious now!! Once I struggled through all of the little pieces(getting them corrected, making new, etc.) things are starting to fall together.
I managed to get the rear wing complete today also. As I mentioned before, I cut away all the molded-in fasteners and replaced them with machined aluminum:
Upper Elements : Top Studio
Mounting "Bar" : Scale Hardware (rivets), RB Motion (center bolt)
I also replaced the rain light. The original kit part followed the Tamiya method of the day [paint black lump with red paint and done], but since I've added so much other detail, I figured this is not acceptable, so I replaced it. I used a piece of clear sprue, chucked it in a rotary tool, and formed it to the correct shape with a sand stick. Then I polished it with 4000~12000 grit sanding cloth, drilled the center out and painted it clear red with a silver backing. A little piece, but a huge improvement over stock.
So far, so good, I'm waiting for something to explode on me at any time, as there haven't been any catastophies yet. Wish me luck. Comments and feedback are always welcome.
Cheers,
Chris
Hello All,
Quick question: Does anyone know the correct manufacturer and color for the seat belts?
From the pictures I see Willans Blue and Red, but I think these are modern additions. The instruction say to paint them black, so which is it?
Any help is appreciated.
Cheers,
Chris
Hello Again,
Well, the chassis is progressing, you can see here. I got a lot of the small details assembled and the front wing finished and mounted. Am working on getting the front shock mounts completed before assembling the piece that goes over the foot-well. Also getting the wheels and tires cleaned up, detailed and put together.
Feedback and comments always welcome. Hope all is well out there.
Cheers,
Chris
