Their reply: contact the seller, which is no option as he plays deaf and mute. On his request I transfered the money to his E-mail-address and I shouldn’t have done that. Can anyone tell me how to pay for goods by Paypal so that you are entitled to buyer protection?

Harm
It's not the email address that's the issue (all PayPal payments are directed to an email address). As Tyrone noted, you can send "to friends and family" or for "Goods and Services". Goods and services gets you your protection (and hits the seller with a fee). Never do money to friends and family unless you know you can trust them or it's money paid for goods/services already rendered and you know you don't need protection.
