Not perfect, but as someone who has wished for a kit for many years I’ll happily purchase a couple of these.MoFo wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 11:17 am https://www.themodellingnews.com/2021/0 ... items.html

I am a fan of the 1.5 litre cars. Shame there are not more, especially the BRM P261.

Tamiya does it all the time. So do Hasegawa, and Fujimi, and Aoshima, and BeeMax. Even MFH does it. Not really anything new.
Je ne regrette rien.

I did not say it's new, opposite, in fact: it's getting a general trend, that's why it remonded me the example I gave

I'm OK with it. Sometimes I just basically want a bodyshell and don't care about the interior. I'd like a less expensive model with the ability to get add ons if I wanted them, but not pay extra when I wouldn't use them.

Agree!
Does not look likely... They use to upgrade more than making a "transkit" for another version. They could have made literally millions by, for instance, selling trans and decals for the 250cc NSR... but they let soebody else do it. Looks to be their policy.

I think it was the old usual suspect: licensing fees.
Maybe, in toady's world the companies have become smarter and, like Ebbro, negotiate a deal for a number of cars so they can produce all the versions and get their costs recovered that way.
Fujimi probably went a bit overboard with producing each car in each race version, but Ebbro struck a nice balance. Like Lotus 49 and 72 etc.
