I feel there has been a shift towards diecast for some in the last decade or so, as well as a vast improvement in quality. For some the building process isn't fun, nor is the stress with knowing you may only have one chance with a part of the process while having spent way more on it. Being able to buy a built model is better for many.

Interesting question, and I have some feedback to give about it.
Quite simple: in this case, as the F1 cars available are at 1-24, it won´t affect too much as most of us are on 1/20th. 1/43 and 1/12 have their diecasts either in a minority range, or in a quite different league in terms of price/quality, and 1/43s have co-habited for ages.
Buuuut! in WRC, the dawn of a full, quite nice range of 1/24 cheap and well done cars has influenced in a quite simple and foreseeable way.Hachette-Salvat
A good amount of WRC kits that people treasured and stored ina Gollum way, have re surfaced at reasonable prices, and the high prices that were paid some months ago are a thing of the past.
Simple: There´s a cheap, 25eu Focus-II WRC, and I have an expensive, hard-to-build SimilR kit.... I sell my Simil and get a nice, well built Hachette-Salvat :D
You can see some Citroen DS3, C4, Fiesta WRC, etc selling NOW at affordable prices.
Now we only NEED TO CONVINCE THEM TO RELEASE AN F1 COLLECTION AT 1/20, please!!!! :D 8)

JamesB if they do another diecast F1 collection it will be in 1/18th scale just like they did with rally cars. 1/20th scale is a almost only model kit scale.

Hachette has announced the first 30 1/24th scale diecast F1 models. The 1/24th F1 collection will have 60 F1 cars. They are very good quality, alot better than the larger Minichamps and Hotwheels 1/18th cars.

Received my Lotus 33 and I'm impressed. Metal fuel injector inlets and exhaust tips. Some p/e, new wheels and tires and clear parts. Very nice.

I´d bet they don´t! if it were something in the main plastic sprues, then OK, but... ah, wait, I thought you meant the tyres. Rims? well, maybe!
