That’s a completely fair price. Hopefully it’s more detailed than say the Porsche 935 kit they recently released. I’ll wait for a US retailer to offer preorders and hope they’re able to fulfill it, or just get it on eBay.

Unless it’s grossly inaccurate and it doesn’t look that way from what I have seen, I’m in. At a bare minimum, it will be a good starting point for a super detailing exercise.

Not to be argumentative but you are not comparing apples to apples. Tamiya's Enzo and Carrera GT both were released as Simi-Assembled (Die Cast) models before they were ever released in kit form so again the tooling/development cost one would assume was taken up in the initial run before it hit the market in kit form. Also you are comparing a full bodied car to and F1 car if you are using the 99T to compare against. If MFH is any indication their F1 models sell for around $200 USD cheaper than their sportscars so I don't think that the Tamiya sportscars are too out of line cost wise. Italeri is just a bad example to use since these models are nothing more then re-releases of Protar kits so again no development cost associated with those. Those are more of a plug and play model kit. Meaning set up of the mold they purchased and run parts. I thought someone was working on releasing a new 1/12th scale Lancia Rally car. It would be interesting to compare the cost of that kit with the 99T if you want to get a true comparison between sportscars and F1 in 1/12th scaleGrypham wrote: ↑Mon Jun 14, 2021 9:15 am If we were to look at Tamiya's "recent" all new 1/12th kits, the Ferrari Enzo and Porsche Carrera GT, they were more than double the cost of the 1/12th re-releases at the time. It would be a tough decision to choose what F1 car to release in order to recover the huge costs involved. I suppose a Senna car is a pretty safe bet worldwide. Revell DE gambled on a Schumacher car, and managed a reasonable price. I don't know how big a seller it was, but there seems to be quite a few out there. Italeri manages to produce Alfa 8C 2300's, etc. at fairly reasonable prices.....

They did made some new 1/12 kits, like their Alfa 8C, which is a completeley new development. This sells for 130€ here in Germany.Italeri is just a bad example to use since these models are nothing more then re-releases of Protar kits so again no development cost associated with those.

And the Lancia Delta Integrale in 1/12 will also come from Italieri.
I don't think the Tamiya 935/934 are too expensive. These are great kits that fit perfectly together. Before the re-release they went up to 200€or even more. Now they are really cheap, I think.
But the Lotus is with much over 220€ not a bargain in my mind.

Re: PLASTIC Upcoming F1 Releases 2021
I've pre-ordered mine. It's a 1/12 Lotus for under 200 quid. There are jokers on eVilbay wanting more than that for a Tamiya Lotus 78.

Can’t trust evil bay for anything. When you see 100% markup on kits that are available in the stores, you know its become a joke.

Greater fool theory
Anyway, one problem may also be that Italeri is expecting to sell a quantity of models that Nunu is not expecting...
