I hope that is the case. There is a part of me that thinks some tooling was developed years ago for this project. I seemed to recall that Tamiya did start on some 1/12th projects over 20 years ago only to abandon then due to high cost and uncertain markets. I believe it was the Porsche 956 and the B192.

I was going to use the recent Ford GT40 kit as an example of prices but its all over the place. The Trumpter is $125 (which seems way too low), and the Meng is $270, so maybe it'll be on the higher end. As long as its under $300 I'm likely a day one purchase to ensure more plastic models come in that scale.

A few moving parts with GT40.
Trump is unlicensed. Pulled from sale then reboxed and unbranded. Cheap because its known to be an average kit and they are dodging fees.
Meng is licensed. Impossible to know the details, but i would expect $30-$50 (ie 10%-20%) will go to ford.

Lotus are very supportive on licensing, but agree, around $300 likely.

Very exciting news! Always liked this car and hopefully it's the start of a series that DOESN'T revolve around more endless MP4 variations. I get it, it's a risk for them to make the also-rans but a Jordan 191 or any number of others would be awesome.

As for pricing - they really need to do something to allow retailers to carry and sell their models. Currently retailers are being killed by costs from their importer / distributor that are higher than the retail price in China and HK.

Completely agree. Camel yellow car will look cool in 1/12. Great news !
Also hope for a series and not just one of kit. I bet it'll be cheaper then multi-media.
So, I'm definitely in.
