New Shapeways Store

Post by willster127 »

Hi all,

I've been tossing this idea around for a while and decided to go ahead an open up a Shapeways store.

https://www.shapeways.com/shops/willrace-scale-models

Facebook page is Willrace Scale Models.

While not the most prolific or fastest builder in the world I enjoy tinkering and modeling up extra parts for my models. I recently acquired a small 3D printer to print test parts and check for fit etc.. and put my first 2 items up last night, 5/16" and 3/8" NAS bolts in 1:12 scale.

Primarily I'm modeling parts for the kits I'm building, or want to build, the next pieces will be a selection of parts for the 1:8 Entex Mclaren M23 and a few add ons for the 1:12 MP4/6 that I feel were neglected and could use some love!

Either way, I'm open to ideas and enjoy the CAD side as much as the building so if anyone has any suggestions let me know either on here or through Facebook, Shapeways.

Thanks for looking and hopefully I can help provide some pieces that you may be wanting!

I always prefer that the companies that sell 3D printed product show a printed out version as well. A high resolution photo of the actual product you buy and not only a cad model.
As many 3D printed products look like crap compared to traditional resin casted ones.

One problem with that is when you are photographing tiny parts such as those as we use, the camera magnifies them significantly compared to what our eyes can see and the photos can end up looking WORSE than the actual products do in person due to the fact that the image you are looking at can be hundreds of times larger than the actual part and any minor flaw is also magnified hundreds of times. Sometimes I'm shocked at how bad even a good looking part looks in a high-res photo.

You should consider to do resin transkits for 1/12 Tamiya or Protar. There are a lot of possibilities and this is a market that any company is covering now. Only Icon is producing wheels and tyres. I have contacted MFH recently and they confirmed that at the moment they will work only in full kits.

I'm very sure that many people would be interested in things like these:

Lotus 49B Mónaco 1968
Brabham BT44 1974
Matra MS10 Cosworth 1968
Ferrari 312T2 1977
Lotus 72 1970
Tyrrell 006 1973
and so on...
