Re: Airbrush for large areas
A number of years ago I got an Iwata G5 spray gun. I spray at 25-35 psi. We got it from Hobby Link Japan because the pricing was considerably less than in the US, I believe it was under $150. It does get a better finish than my Iwata airbrush, but I'm sure with the right technique you can get a great finish with an airbrush too.
Re: Airbrush for large areas
What about using a spray can for the body, especially if it’s a one time use? You can get custom spray cans.

Re: Airbrush for large areas
The air pressure is not the secret for such large bodyworks, it is the needle and nozzle size and as Daniel pointed right, 0,5mm is the way to go. Buying a needle and nozzle is much cheaper then a complete new gun!
Take a stand!

Thanks for all of the replies. I now have a few paths that I can go down.

Re: Airbrush for large areas
I agree with Daniel. Use that brush with a number 3 or 5 tip for all my large areas
Re: Airbrush for large areas
I have had success spraying large areas using a Grex airbrush with a fan tip. The spray pattern is a narrow ellipse rather than a circle.

Re: Airbrush for large areas
Hi,
If you want to cover large areas, the flat pattern is what you need.
The best is certainly the Iwata HP-TH, but it’s pretty expensive.
The GSI Creos Procon Boy LWA Trigger is perfect too and cheaper. Same for the Sparmax DH-825.
You now can also work in 0.3 flat pattern nozzle thanks to the great Meng MTS-030.
This is just my opinion, but I have all of them and so happy to work with!

Re: Airbrush for large areas
I would recommend any of the following. I've sprayed all sorts of stuff with these 3 brushes and they've coped admirably with anything I've thrown at them. I've
even used the Sparmax to repair wheels on my car that got kerbed and it did a great job. Painting and clear coating 1/12th models is easy.
Sparmax GP-70 0.7mm
Tamiya HG-Wide trigger 0.5mm
Mr Hobby Procon Boy SQ Single Action Airbrush 0.4mm
