F1 alloy rims colour

Post by R1c1rd0 »

Hello all
Fairly new member here.
I posted this question on automotive forums.com with a couple of the guys there suggesting this might be a better place. So to my question...
What does everybody use to paint modern F1 alloy rims, like those used by Ferrari? To date, I've yet to find a paint of the right colour or fine enough metallic particle...
Cheers

I've used Alcad II high polish aluminum for Ferrari and Williams cars from the early 2000s. It might not be 100% accurate but its pretty close for me. Use their gloss black as the base and a few very light layers of the silver.

Finishers’ paint - Formula chrome for high gloss.

Finisher’s paint - fine silver for relative dull silver.

Remember to paint relatively “thick” than normal chrome/silver color to let fine flakes to appear.

Finishers’ paint is always my first go to:
1. Not hot at all, never had eating plastics issues.

2. Very durable when fully cured. Beautiful turn-on colors.

I have used the same as stubeck above, exactly the same base and same Alclad II high polish aluminum. In addition, after the BBS decals go on I use a Tamiya acrylic clear sprayed through the airbrush for top coat with excellent results.
