Group build Lotus 49 WIP

Post by garymc »

Started my next build tamiya lotus 49 1/12 scale, this model leaves alot of room for improvement.Started on the motor and transmission first, replaced alot of the casted on bolts for some scale hardware bolts.Painted the eng/trans xf16 flat aluminum with a wash of acrylic black, the valve covers are flat black with a little silver. Also put together the body halves and will be getting them ready for paint, decals, clearcoat so can let dry to start front end assembly. That is all for now

It has been awhile since last post, car is slowly progressing as wanting to add some details.I added some rivets down each side of the braces that hold the pedals,a brake splitter and fittings to the master cylinders and calipers and a oil line off the tank back threw the bulkhead. The radiator still to come as want to make lines from plastic to bend and form to fit as one side has a temp sending unit attached to the pipe.Still don't know if should paint or use decal for yellow stripe down the middle so if i paint what yellow to use, can't seem to find a very good match that is bright enough.Let me know what you think.

Could you share what scale hardware nuts & bolts you have used for this build. I have been wanting to order some but do not know what would work for 12th scale.

Made some more progress. Thanks to paul at thundervalley for the decals as the set with the kit are shot. The nuts and bolts are all of the larger sizes that scale hardware offer just have to size to what fits 0.5 - 1.2mm.Used card stock and black electric tape to make the seat.Waiting on velocity stacks and injectors to see what will work best for the fuel injection lines then i will mount the distributor and injection pump and finish up the wiring.Painted the yellow stripe up the body as the decal does not wrap around the nose and would have to be painted anyway. That's about it for now

Regards,Gary

You have uploaded 47 MBytes of images... that is twice the quota. Not sure how that happened, but...
