I have had much better results by painting parts with gloss black instead of semi-gloss black.

You should never use CF decals over a bare plastic part. Sanding the part makes it just worse. Best deal ist to build up a clean, smooth surface using primer and glossy black or just glossy clear (black will hide small imperfections of the decal application). Then even polish out. The surface must be as smooth as possible. F1S CF decal is very delicate on rough surface, it will not stick. After application, let the decal dry thoroughly and cover with glossy clear and polish out.

Take a look at the front wing of my Lotus 107C to see an example...

Keep up your good work!
Best wishes,
Steffen

Thanks all for the tips and support.

I've stripped the decals from the wing. It came off easy. (Way too easy '') I've primed it and given it a coat of black and am waiting for some SMS decals to arrive and will try to do it this weekend.

BTW. Great models Steffen!

Ever have one of those builds where nothing seems to go right?

I have some time today as the wife is away and there's a major snowstorm outside blanketing much of southern Ontario (in Canada) and parts of the eastern US)

First I broke a suspension arm while decalling it, then I broke a tip off of the engine cover while sanding it. I had a Lotus 107B on the shelf and luckily the covers were the same except for a slight angle at the radiator opening.

Let's hope the rest goes without any major incidents. (Don't problems normally come in 3s?)

Doh! Hopefully that second engine cover will be a perfect match.

I have both of those kits, been through them many times, and never noticed the radiator inlets were slightly different......I've gotta start paying better attention to the world around me.

Still plugging away after a few setbacks.

Used TS16 yellow. After a couple coats, it's not yellow enough. It's close to the Camel yellow. I made templates of the decals to determine where to mask the green.

A little bit of tricky masking and a shot of green, soon to be followed by some touch-ups.

Finished the tires anyways. Kit decals, Sakatsu tire valves and wheel nuts. First time I've used either. Look great under the magnifying glass, but so small.

Studio 27 decal sheet. Looks nice, but doesn't use the green decal for the body color as the kit decal does. (which is good.)

Very nice masking and paint job. I will use Finisher's colors on this particular car. Though they look pretty good, I have to say the Sakatsu wheel nuts are a bit wrong compared with the real. They may be good for the 2000's cars, but not for this time period...
Best wishes,
Steffen

Steffen, Yes, the wheel nuts I used are the newer style. The proper style should not have the little tip. I had a hard enough time getting these. If I can get the proper style, I'll replace them.

I was hoping to use Zero paints, but wasn't sure on the shade of yellow to buy. I asked Hiroboy, but they never got back to me and I got anxious to get some paint on it.
