Mr.Grumpy: Benetton B194 (2008 Group Build)

Post by Mr.Grumpy »

i'll start with this one and hope get to at least one more before the end of the season.

kit is from 1/43 tameo. i think someone else is doing the kit in 1/20 - - should be interesting to compare.

i picked this kit because i wanted to add to my world champion collection and also because other than the body, there's only 6 white metal parts! most of the kit is PE including the under tray.

the only downside is there's only one set of decals - - scary for such a complicated livery.

Looks good, never seen a Photoetch undertray in a TMK, should look good, Have fun bending those rear wing elements through those slots though, I had to do one of those once and it is really trying on the patience!!!

willster, funny you should mention that. i was just looking through the instructions and noticed how complicated the rear wing was and remembered how much trouble i had with the rear wing of the B195. should be another interesting challenge - - along with the multi-colour paint scheme and the 4 (!) barge boards - - which also need bending!

Go well Mr G!

Without doubt my favourite F1 car - mostly due to the beautiful color scheme, but also as Schumacher's first title. Will be following this with great interest.

Wow, so much PE. I hope it doesn't make the suspension arms look too thin.
Didn't you build an R26 recently? Did it also have PE suspension arms?

Looking forward to this build!

mark, most of the tameo kits have PE suspension arms - - except for the older kits. not too thin in my opinion. sometimes there's a PE part you wrap around the arm where it's meant to be thicker.

Sounds interesting re the suspension, when you get to that part take a few extra pics of the build process for the progress report if you can.

Mr G,

I can't remember if you have one of the small vices I stock to help build rear wings.

If you havn't got one let me know, this type of wing is the reason I sourced them.
