Hello friends,
I haven't been building many kits lately. I've gotten into 1/64 builds - mostly modifying Hot Wheels or Matchbox cars to make them more detailed. Since this is a niche interest, I don't want to clog up the forum with individual topics on each car. So I'll make this a running thread of my builds.
The first is this Cunningham C4R that started life as a Hot Wheels car. I changed the wheels and cut open the body. Then walled off the engine bay with plastic card. I used L-shaped plastic to build the lip around the engine bay that makes the hood sit flush. I made a Chrysler V8 with 4 downdraught Webers out of plastic card and aluminium rod. Detail Master wiring is a little overscale but it's the smallest I have. Some 1.5mm solder replicates the exhaust pipes in the engine bay and out the side of the car. Then I repainted the car using Tamiya TS-26 and Mr. Hobby Pure Blue.
This is what I started with:

That looked to have been a fun project. I'll take what you ended up with over what you started with anytime. Thanks for sharing.

Almost impossible to see for a 50 y.o. guy like me
I built the McLaren MP4/4 from Tameo at 1/64 scale in the past, a real challenge.
Cheers.
