Ebbro Lotus Type 88 1/20 Scale Mansell
Just finished up the Ebbro Lotus Type 88 1/20 scale as driven slightly by Nigel Mansell.
The kit has very nice detail and when finished it looks great but the engineering wasn't quite up to Tamiya quality. Side panels and some rear body work just wouldn't line up with the floor as they should have which proved to be a problem when assembling it. Lost my patience with it a few times and one time it almost ending up in the trash.
The chrome kit decals are also a bit difficult. They don't respond well to heat or decal setting solutions. Clear coating them with lacquer results in them cracking.
I went with painting the chrome side panels and stripping all factory chrome parts and painting with Alcad. To me it just looks better.
The paint I used were,
Tamiya Grey Primer
Tamiya LP-41 Mica Blue
Alclad 2 Gloss black base
Alclad 2 Chrome
Alclad 2 Aqua Gloss
Gravity Spain 2K Gloss Clear
Miscellaneous Tamiya acrylics and Alcald paints were used on the interior parts.
Belts are a combination of Tamiya and Studio 27 belt sets. Also added some mesh funnel covers from MFH.
It was quite the test of patience for me. For some reason when I went into it I thought it was going to be a fun build but I definitely learned some things.
Hope you guys like it.

What a great looking Lotus
For all the troubles you encountered on the way, your perseverance has well and truly paid off.
The little extras have added to it nicely too.
I want to build mine now.
Cheers

It do look very nice. Perhaps I should change my mind and build mine instead of selling it.
