Tyrrell 023 Yamaha (Tamiya 1:20)
Finally ticked this one off the list, Tyrrell 023 Yamaha, Mika Salo 1995 version by Tamiya.
Considering the disaster that happened mid-way through the build (dropped and broke!), it’s a small miracle this model made it to completion. It was initially going to be a basic out-of-box build, but I ended up adding some plumbing, wiring, carbon fibre and suspension mods. Also, I used the kit’s decals for the blue livery…
It's far from perfect, but IMO looks ok in the display cabinet.
I've posted a full "build diary' on my model blog with lots of extra photos & info about the build - https://www.wixy500.com/build-diary-199 ... amiya-120/
Cheers
Mark.

Looks great Mark. You don't often see these built up so its refreshing to see something a bit different.
The extra little details are a nice addition to. Well done!

Yes, such accidents are always more than annoying and sometimes really get on your nerves.
It's nice that it's still finished and if you don't know it you can't see it either. It looks great.
Thanks for sharing with us!!

Great work, despite that disaster during the build.
In my opinion the original car looks somehow empty below the engine cover. There is so much unused space to the left and the right of the engine. So you really did the right thing to put extra details inside that area. They look great and remove the toyish look of the engine.

Hi Mark,
Your 023 is great. Your repair looks good. It is not easy to do.
Your added detail parts make the model looks much better.
Even this is a Tamiya kit, I find the way that Tamiya treats the rear shocks is very questionable. The two shocks ends are just dangling in mid air. Tamiya can easily put the shock anchors on the transmission top (part B5).

Yes, the area that you point out is a downfall for this kit. Unfortunately I don't have the skill yet to have made up a satisfactory looking bracket to fix the shock to the bellhousing. My previous Tamiya build (non-F1, Toyota 88C-V - https://www.wixy500.com/build-diary-toy ... 124-scale/) also had an error in the rear suspension; the bell cranks were not attached to anything! It was also missing required plumbing from the turbos to the intercooler, but I was able to fix that with some solder and paint.
