Jordan EJ10 - 1/24 Revell
Jordan EJ10 - 1/24 Revell
Hello everyone,
at last some finished F1 from my never diminishing stash... here's the now old Revell 1/24 Jordan EJ10.
It was a relatively fast build, even if I had to completely ignore the kit's manual and do an alternative way to close the monocoque and attach the front suspension. It was the method of gluing tube sections inside the nose, and cutting the suspension arms in halves to fit inside the tubes. I've used that in previous builds of Revell kits.
I'm bad at doing WIPs, but there's a couple of pics of the early stages.
The tyres, TV camera and seatbelts are 3D modeled and printed. I did fake brake disks in 3D printing to close the space inside the wheels, since Revell's brake disks in many of their early F1 kits are too small. The original TV camera of this kit is the opposite: too big, 1/20th scale, and badly designed.
Also did a new windshield, antennas and mirror's supports, and reworked the vanes between the front wheels. The underside "plank" is a plastic sheet hand painted, using pictures and a Giorgio Piola's drawing as references.
The yellow is an automotive paint, close to Tamiya's TS-16. The CF parts are my usual RLM 66, with aluminium shot over through a net in parts like the wings.
Main sponsor's decals are from an old Museum Collection decal sheet.
I'm trying to clear some space in my shelves, so I've started by building less demanding kits that have big boxes, like the ones by Revell. The next, that is already in process, is the BMW Sauber F1.06.
Thanks for all the inspiration!!

Re: Jordan EJ10 - 1/24 Revell
Looks great! I'm going through the same process on my end, have too many kits and if I want to get more, I gotta finish the ones I already have.

I like! Nice job. Revell F1 kits can be tedious.

Re: Jordan EJ10 - 1/24 Revell
A very nice model of the Revell EJ10. I have quite a number of Revell F1 kits. I don't have this kit. Some are easier to build than others. Some are horrible.
Yours look really nice.
One thing, is the J197 and EJ10 suppose to be different yellow? I don't know.

Very nice build. Like the mastercard decals, they stand out very well on the side of the cockpit. The plank looks superb too.
The yellow on this car was a very bright, almost fluro, yellow and the 197 always appeared a more 'traditional' warmer colour.

Nice work, one of the last modern F1 cars, that I really liked.

Wow!!! awesome
Yes, I think they are, it was a way to cellebrate the "tenth". Most are not horrible IMHO. Theres the 412T2 (Esci/protar heriteage) that is probably the worst and most inaccurate F1 kit ever. Then the B194 and the F310B are rather bad. From those one, the rest are really nice, at the level of an avarage classic MM kit Id say...

Wonderful build!!
Re: Jordan EJ10 - 1/24 Revell
Thank you all for the kind words!
I must have to say that my pictures don't do justice of how bright the yellow is. I could have gone a step further, since both 2000 and 2001 cars were painted in a "super bright yellow", but there's a limitation dictated by the yellow parts of the decals, inside the hornet's figures. Revell printed a reference of the yellow in the decal sheet, and indicate a regular yellow of their color range, that could be good for an earlier car, not for this one. I choose a yellow which I see is more close to the real car, but not too far from the one already in the decals.
