Red Bull RB5 1:20
Hi
It doesn't happen too often, but occasionally I finish a model!
This is the Ejan 1:20 2009 Red Bull RB5. Looks similar to the Tamiya kit - but that is a RB6 from 2020.
The Red Bull blue is from Zero and the yellow has been painted with a mix made from Finisher paints. It is just slightly chrome yellow with a very slight orange tint.
The decals are well printed, but the bucking bronco on the air box was undersized so the one from the Tamiya kit has been used. The donor will be Toro Rosso anyway. The checker carbon on the floor is included on the decalsheet.
My way of working with these very fragile models is to finish the body with paint, decals and gloss coat and add the gearboxsection with all the suspension in place. Then the car will be fixed to the displaybox bottom suitably finished. This is to get the correct stance as well as a good handhold without touching the model. Then the rest of the finished parts will be added (previously dryfitted naturally) Those side mirrors are ....
The model is not a particular race version, but will be a general early season / Barcelona test version.
Best regards
Flemming

Perfect result, and superb presentation. Great idea to fix the kit in the display before the finish. Congratulations!!

Very nice Flemming!
I have this one to do as well. Not good to hear about the decal size issue because i don't have any spare RB6s sitting around...

That looks awesome. Well done, Sir. Love the base.
I would love to get my hands on the Tamiya kit. Anyone got one too many in the stash??

Flemming, that model looks extremely well finished. Thanks for sharing.
Red Bull Cola - I had one once maybe twice, then they stopped selling it here in the US. If I recall correctly, it didn't contain too many preservatives or unpronounceable ingredients unlike the real Red Bull stuff. Clean and fresh actually - like your model.
Cheers.

Re: Red Bull RB5 1:20
Wow, that looks amazing! I have always liked the narrow nose over the later version of the RB5 (and RB6), congratulations on a great build!
