My 3D printed 2018 Red Bull RB14 as driven by Max Verstappen is ready.
Scale 1/20 of course like all my F1 cars. The decals came from Pattos.
Not completely satisfied with them, but it is what it is.
Full WIP on my website.

Oh, that is interesting.
Where is the 3D print from? (the 3D model)
how was the assembly?

Regarding the decals, is it the silvering that can be seen in the photos?

Hi Kars,

Can I ask what paint did you use for the blue? Regards, Tim Keily

Hi Kars, did you apply the pattos decals to the flat / matt paint? It's a very odd silvering effects around the edges. At least they didn't crack up like mine did!

Great job with the 3D print though, I found models of all the 2019 cars from the videogame, so I might do the 2019 McLaren next.

The drawings were found on the web. (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3424214)
Beware of steering wheel V1. That one is too big and will cost you a small fortune to have it printed.
So use steering wheel V2.
I had it printed by a pro 3D printing company to get a very smooth finish.
Assembly was great. Good fit, just some work on the seams.

The paint is Zero Paints ZP-1033 Black Blue (RAL 5004).

The decals came from Pattos.
Very strange. On a spoon it worked like a charm (lacquer left to right Revell Aqua/Tamiya TS-80/Zero Paints ZP-3039).

On the car it's silvering. The decals seem to dislike the clear lacquer.
The led lights make it look more bad than it is for real, but nevertheless.
Good lesson for next time (RB15).

HI Tyrone, where did you find 2019 cars 3D models? I'm looking for them too! Thanks!

Nice job Kars, working on 3D printed models is difficult like nothing else. I'm doing the same with home printed parts and I spent a month so far in sanding and filling...
Did you printed from Shapeways or from a different source? How much it costs to print a 1/20 model like yours?
Congratulations with the result!

I had it printed by a local company working as an intermediate for me.
They have contacts with a Chinese printing company.
Not much sanding needed for this one.
The structure was very smooth.
Costs are about the same as for a Studio27 kit (about 200,- euro).
I have seen more cheap companies (about 100 euro), but the result is unknown to me.
The body is solid, so it takes a lot of filament.
Maybe if the drawings are being worked on, it could be less expensive.
Out of my league though.

Hi Kars,

Despite all the issues, I would say that you got a unique piece of art.
Congratulations
