Lotus 72 1970 - tyres.
Hey,
To add to my Brawn 1/12 project I'm also tackling a 1/12 Lotus 72 of Rindt from 1970. I have everything for the conversion, other than the tyres with tread, as the ones that come in the 72D kit are slicks.
Is there any place with these tyres readily available? I can't track down a 3D model good enough to print. So if I can't buy any from anywhere I'll have to try and model my own in CAD, that could end up... Not too good!
Any help would be more than appreciated. I'll try and update the Brawn GP WIP over the weekend
Thanks again,
Ty

Derek (icon automotive) sells treaded tires for the Tamiya Ferrari 312B. The front tires have been corrected in width, compared to the kit tires. Maybe these will work?

There's an eBay seller in Austria called St.Irish who does a resin set. I've had a few bits for 1/12 conversions from him and he posts internationally (I'm in the UK). The parts tend to be a bit rough, but do the job if you're prepared to put the effort in.

To make a model would be no such a problem, But since I don't build 1/12 models I would miss the dimensions. If I had this best in a sketch, then I could do this.

These are the tires for your Heller McLaren M7, right?steinietrabi wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 6:00 am http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/McLaren%20M7B/IMG_0410.jpg
McLaren used Goodyear tires, while Lotus used Firestone tires on the type 72 before 1973.

Re: Lotus 72 1970 - tyres.
With the TMK conversion kit I too was trying to find suitable tires. After reviewing this thread I pulled out the ICON Ferrari tires and tried them on the Lotus wheels. The fronts are okay but the rear Lotus wheels are too small. Then I took the resin rear wheels out of the TMK conversion and they worked! The order for tires from ICON is in and I can climb into bed. G'night.
