Re: MP4/2C Portugal '86
So, any update on this topic?
I have the Beemax kit, and from the decals, it would appear that either a Tamiya TS-16 or TS-47 would fit, depending on which light you feel is right. (The TS-16 and 47 appear to be the same hue, just that 47 is one tad darker, but not noticeably)

Currently building:
Alfa Romeo 159 (since 2021)
Recently finished:
Renault R30 (since 2010)

No response back from McLaren as to the question of why 2 colours. I wasn’t even expecting a response in the first place so what we have looks like what we’ll get
The aftermarket decals would point to TS47 being way too yellow: the TS16 looks better. I’m not in a rush so will do some more digging when the time comes, but it’s not fluro yellow for sure

Another idea, try contacting Doug Nye, Motorsport historian, thru Motorsport Magazine. He was quite close to McLaren and seems like the kind of man who would like such a question.

Re: MP4/2C Portugal '86
Here's my colour samples when I asked the same questions here a while back.
In the end I've decided to paint it flo red yesterday & be done with it.
Even the flo red (which never looks that fluorescent on photos) or in fact any colours will shows up differently in photographs depending on the type of cameras, printers & even monitors.
Therefore it will be best for the person, besides Mclaren, who has viewed it in person during that Portugal GP to advise.
Cheers

Certainly from that image the TS16 looks totally wrong…

Re: MP4/2C Portugal '86
..difficult question I guess. Looks like the yellow didn't work really well on camera since it looks different on any image
I would say it's a "normal" yellow.

If you compare the stripes on the ground and the yellow they really look identical...another proof for a "normal" yellow
Also the yellow of the "2" and the shell yellow looks very similar. OK you might think the shell is darker but that is caused because of the red around the yellow. Eyes get fooled pretty easily. I would go for a "normal" yellow

Gravity colors has the Mclaren yellow paint in their range. From my own experience I know their colors are very accurate so I think this one will be too!
