I've started the F2007 (some of the joints are proving rather frustrating, like the barge boards). I decided that the holes for the lift cable were too shallow, so I started making them deeper and, finally, I ended up drilling both holes open.
I hope the rest of it will come together soon.

Im currently working on the Kawasaki ZZR1400. The engine is about 80% and the frame 90% complete.

Dinosaur time I am afraid. I have had a couple of requests from F1M site members asking me to expand on a couple of models that I have been working on but as my model building tends to be on the slow side WIP’s would not develop very far, so a quick airing on the “On The Bench” thread would seem the best place to post a few pictures. So here, with apologies to those who are far cleverer than me with computers and 3D printers, are some part-built models built the old school way.
To keep the number of images in one post down I will make three separate post one each for a Ferrari 312B2, a Mclaren M16 and a Ferrari 312S.
For today, first up is the Ferrari 312B2, this is a combination of parts from the Tamiya and Protar kits. The intention with this model is to replicate the British GP spare car which carried the number 42 (Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy / “the meaning of life” and all that) it was this part made model that I chose to resumed work on when I got back into model making a few years back. After starting this back in the 1970’s it is getting close (relatively) to being ready to paint.
That I think is enough for today, the others will follow shortly, regards,

The second model that I am working on is the Mclaren M16 as I have explained in earlier threads the intention is to complete this scratch-built model as Peter Revson’s pole winning car.
Apart from the gearbox the model is scratch built it is just a matter of cutting, bending and gluing sheet, rod and tubular plastic. Reference material came vai the internet and from Mark James in Canning, Somerset (sorry I don’t have a current e-mail or website for him) he deals in old magazines from and it was from him that I bought old copies of Autosport and Scale Models (September 1971 for the latter if anyone is interested) which featured respectively articles about the car and a scale drawing.
The only tricky part of the construction (so far) has been the forming of the curved cutouts in the monocoque tub for the driver’s arms. These were made by making two male moulds from Tamiya two-part resin, these were then put in a right-angle form, cooking oil was wiped over the male moulds before placing more Tamiya two-part putty over the moulds to make the required female impression. This took several attempts before I had a pair that were, to my mind, the correct size.
Work on this model has been stalled recently as I was stuck on what happened between the back of the driver’s seat and the front of the engine but fortunately forum member Paul Erlendson came to the rescue with a couple of pictures which will be a tremendous help.
I hope that the accompanying pictures show how I am going about making this model.

Does it have to be ON the bench? My things are more AROUND the bench. Got a Toyota GT 4, a Lotus 93, an FW09, a Honda RC211V and an extra Lotus 102D engine cover actually ON the table. Then an FW16B down on the floor. And a bunch of boxed projects underneath. Short attention span can be a problem.

Yes, you are correct the 312B2 the 512S and the M16 are all 1/12 scale, I also omitted to mention that the front and rear wings on the M16 are modified from the wings on the Tamiya Lotus 49B kit. Still with the M16 the brakes rear uprights and possibly the front uprights will probably come from the Tamiya M23 kit but that is all for the future.
