Hi,

1989 FW13 is currently a project I'm working on. The S27 Decals are great, however they are designed for an un-modified (long sidepods) Tamiya FW13B.

I modified the sidepods to the correct (shortened) length & because of this, the Brown "Barclay" stripes aren't long enough. I had to buy two sets of Decals in order

to ensure the stripes run the whole length of the Moncoque.

I also had to use a pair of spare FW14B Sidepod "Canon" Decals for the same reason, those supplied with the FW13 Sheet are WAY too big for the shortened sidepods,

unfortunately the shade of red between the supplied Canon Decals & the those of the FW14B spare's are slightly different but not dramatically so & I can live with it.

shade.

I also modified the FW13B Front Wing using Plasticard but your Benetton solution looks ideal.

Hope this helps. KB.

That Williams looks fantastic, really well done. Would love more info on the changes you've made. The sidepod shaping looks perfect. Good notification about the Barclay decals, hadn't noticed the length issue.
Please keep us posted on progress with this beauty.

Been doing some work on the Benetton, lotus and McLaren. Here is a small preview of the cf decals I've been doing on the McLaren.

The Benetton has been primed with grey Tamiya primer and sanded.
The lotus' rearwing had been build and checked the rear suspension (dryfitted so far). I've noticed the white metal of the modelers kit is way softer (easier to bend) compared to the S27 kits. Getting the suspension on the lotus will be quite a task.

I try to add more pictures when I have something more to show.

looks great (also the Zakspeed), I look forward to see more pictures. Did you use the MP4/5 c/f decal set from Studio 27, or some other decals?

Thank you! Yes it's indeed the studio27 sheet, quality is as usual but had to 'modify' some pieces of it to make it fit better.

So as far as the progress is so far:
Zakspeed: still need to do the missing mirrors but will do them when i need to clear parts as i don't want to waste clear.

Lotus 101:
the wing was glued but might take it apart and modify it as i'm not quite happy with the fit so far. the rear suspension has been dryfitted (used the screws to fix it)

Also tried to paint the yellow trimlines on the OZ wheels by first painting them yellow, using liquid masking film to mask the rim and paint them black. So far not quite mastered this way and i'm leaning more to using the decals instead.

Benetton B189:
So far the body has been sanded, primed and wetsanded. As you can see the floor is slightly deformed but it won't be a problem it i screw it in place.

Mclaren MP4/5:
Started this one as last but made the most progress on it so far. I heard 'bad' stuff about the fujimi kits but at this stage i'm quite surprised about the fit. This is the most recent re release of it with the engine sprue not being chromed anymore (just white plastic). I've finished the engine (not yet decided if it will be a full detail build or more curbside) and added the Studio27 cf set to the tub. The quality is again nice but found out the upper front wishboned needed to be attached to get the best result. Seen it to late so had to come up with some sort of solution which i think turned out okay.

It might all be 'messy' to build them like this but it doesn't get me stuck on a build. Love to go to my building room and just doing stuff on the one i feel like building at the time.
