You should build for your own enjoyment. You are the one looking at the finished model daily. I am sure there are many details on the 50+ 12th scale I have completed that are not correct. Just have fun.

Just married!

Joined both parts with 2K-glue and then tightening 7 screws. Hope it will be strong enough, but it feels reasonably stable and both 'side pontoons' will add an extra tiny bit of structural stability (the short wheelbase also helps).

Seats and belts are not fixed in place yet.

A bit of work on the dashboard. I want to add some texture to the instrument panel and the top panel as a whole, and using the original part it would be tricky to hand paint the switches etc. Now I can treat the complete dashboard as a whole, and then add the switch details.

Marcus, you should try and find the build report by VR2 on his 917…it’s very, very detailed and there are important findings from him on how to make the doors fit (better). It’s nearly an instruction manual. Next up for me (after the 1:12 Lotus 49) is my 917. I wish I could remember when he posted it but I think you’ll find it ver worthwhile. BTW, your work so far is really good!

Hi Leftkeys, I do know VR2's 917/30 (bloody impressive indeed) but no other 917. I'll do a search on the forum one of these days, thanks for the advice.

Hi Marcus, under WIP tab/page 7, you'll find a build report on my 917K (LM winner '71). I've put this project on hold a while ago due to other priorities. However I plan to restart/finish this project over the course of next year.

Btw, your LH looks very clean and fantastic so far ! Another side note about the color of the frames of the LH's. There is clear evidence that at least some LH frames have been painted black (JWA 917 LH's of LM '71).

To make the doors fit on the Hippie is almost impossible. I did spend many hours bending and bending - and it is possible. BUT - then I had to paint the doors (ok). And put on the big and tricky decals (nightmare). And mount the windows (tricky). And during that process I managed to "re-bend" the doors one more time. So now the perfect fit was gone. And I decided NOT to try to do any more bending - it can damage the paint and/or fragile decals.

Well thanks guys, not looking forward to those doors!

So Allnie's story points me towards reprinting the decals on friendlier paper, or masking and painting..

By the way I did see your WIP, VR2! I remember following some of your leads when testfitting the rear frame. Hope you find the time to finish it, you added a gorgeous amount of extra (extremely convincing) detail.
