I agree with the answer from GP models. I thought at first that I didn't need all the detailsets, but in the end they were all. Most likely you could do without the underbody / wing set. But that's also the cheapest and doesn't make the whole thing fat either. If you install the original seat, you can also do without the cockpit set. In the end I bought all of them and for my second one I even bought some twice.

Happy saturday
I spent some time at the Williams again.
I removed the gurney on the front wing and sanded the cast-on elevations flush on the side panels. The top studio set for the bottom and grand piano replaces this. Next comes primer then black satin and decals. For the white lines, I received specially printed strips from a Midellbau colleague. I'm curious how I can move them.

I also worked on the tires. So far only the slicks are ready. Few signs of wear and markings still need to be done. The Goodyear Eagle was brushed with a stencil and matt white. I still have to clean up a bit around the letters but they're pretty much done. The second set gets rain tires that I got from Guido here in the forum.

The motor has now been glued to the underbody and screwed to the monocoque. I worked on the hydraulics. Some lines have been recolored. According to Top Studio's instructions, they were painted with Tamiya XF-8, then lightly dry-ground with X-14. Some fittings were exchanged for those from RBM. There is still a lot to do, but I hope that the break won't last that long. Now a few more pictures.

Very impressive indeed, a joy to watch! Love the diversity of textures in these last pics.
I always wondered, do I need all those expensive upgrade sets if I want to start one of the "big 3" Tamiya sets? And then every time I see one built skillfully, the answer is always "YES"... it certainly seems to add a lot, when handled properly.
Cheers, Marcus

Thanks, I'm happy if you like it. So far building has been a lot of fun. At first I also thought that I would just buy a few detail sets for the Williams. In the end it was all of them. I also have to see that this building is the most extensive thing I've ever done. I put off the construction for a long time because I was really scared. It was unfounded as top studio did a really good job. Most small jobs are done. The front wing is the next hurdle. Well then, see you next time.
Greetings Martin!
