Hi all,
just a quick update.
A busy week has seen (endless) masking, Livery, first Clear Coat & the (fiddly) Colour demarcating Pinstripes all applied. The Wings, Wishbones & Seat have also been primed
& Painted Satin black.
. Thanks for looking.

That looks very nice!
A silly question, but how did you align the masking to the decals?
Is there a trick to it, or did you go by eye and then aligned the decals to the painted borders?

Re: Williams FW15, 1992 (Unraced).
Hi, and definitely! Not a silly question at all, I'm more than happy to answer. Time, patience & unhealthy obsession are the main tricks! Overall I "think" it took me
about 10-12 hours, over two days to mask it correctly.
To start, I cut the individual Decals/Logo's from the Sheet. Then, one at a time, place them in position on the body work using Blutack (dry, backing Paper still on) & try to
mask the colour demarcations around them accordingly using 0.5mm masking Tape. I then remove the Logo's.
After which there's a massive amount of time spent viewing every line/mask from every angle, tweaking & adjustment to ensure symmetry & parallelism. "If" I get it right
the Paint demarcation should follow the correct contours & finally be hidden perfectly by the Pinstripes.
To try & get the Pinstripes straight, even & avoid unwanted waves or fluctuations, I tend to use lots & lots of Water & very gently pull the Decal from one end
across the Body so that the Decal self straightens.
I think this is what you're asking?? If not, let me know & I'll try & come up with a better answer
