I'm looking forward to this construction report. Got the Monaco ver. With Senna figure. Unfortunately, the monocoque halves are badly warped. If it fits at the back, the front is almost 10mm apart. That needs to be corrected first. Your experiences with the kit will be noted and incorporated into mine. I'm looking forward to your approach.

Yes, same problem here. But when I attach the rear, the front stays up just 3-4 mm and that can be fixed with a good amount of superglue ;)

Thanks so much Alex. I particularly like the one were a visible seam can be seen in the inside of the monocoque...saves me alot of headaches on how to remove that seam on the kit :)

But I fear I have to build that lip on the top of the cockpit from plasticcard...the one covered in yellowish CF

Alex I hope it's OK to share the picture !?

There you can see the "yellow lip" on top of the monocoque. I will add this and of course have it all covered with CF...I hope I have enough in my stash.

Hi Daniel,
I have nearly completed my build of the Monaco version on my Facebook page.
David Atkin.
Quite a long build around 7-8 months.
The rear wing and took the time because you have to paint and fix first before adding the rear suspension etc!
An enjoyable build though two things to watch for are the rear aluminium tape that goes over the monoque it's very easy to tear and I used my own tape in places.
And the mesh on the side of the turbo intake the decals have to be cut and also the mesh painted nato black and white to blend in the, "Candy" decal.
The, "Candy" decals need plenty of micro sol to go over the side grilles and touch in with white! 8)

Thanks for the tips.

My kit is missing the alu tape :)
Yes the Candy decals are the ones I fear.
About the Candy and the turbomesh I will go for this solution...

...replacing some parts with 3D prints and turned alu.

Image

3d prints of some suspension details. I will breakdown the suspension in seperate parts for better painting and a more defined/better look.

Image

testfitting

Image

Checking if all works. Really not easy since the suspension is now working/flexible and not stiff like the original parts. Makes aligning very hard..........still not done yet :(

Image

Image

Working on some 3D basics...AN fittings. The cool thing is I can make every size I need.

Image

The inside of the monocoque will be not very detailed..just the basics and self made CF decals...the hard part come later, stay tuned ;)

Image

Parts :)

Image

A little progress an the engine. I really like it, looks like a Formula Ford :) 3D Printed sparkplug boots can be seen here. Some metal parts are "medium blasted"....

Image

More 3D madness....
