I glued the interior into the tub, and then set the tub on the floor pan with the side pods glued on, so they would stay in alignment while the glue dried. Then I glued the side tubs to the floor pan using epoxy for a strong joint. After that was cured, I glued in the radiators. Of course, I then discovered that I should have installed some of the front suspension bits first. I had to do some trimming of the lower suspension part to get it to fit in, but it glued in OK. The push-rod piece went in without difficulty and was glued to the lower arms. Then I ran into a real problem with the upper arm piece. It had hooks on the ends that wouldn't go into the tub with the interior already in place. Naturally, I tried to force it, and broke off one end. I can get it to fit by trimming the hooks off, but I have to fix the broken arm first.

Hi Wadny, your work is very good. I believe there is a mistake in the side air intakes
Cheers, Anton

That is very easily done, I remember doing the exact same thing when I first built mine back when it was first released. Thankfully I caught the error before I'd applied any paint.
Hope you can rectify this without too much damage.

daveyman, nice catch! I put them in backwards, didn't I. I guess this is the time to fix it. Thanks!

It was Anton and his eagle eye who spotted it, can't take credit/blame. You should fix it easily enough at this stage.

Ah, yes. Credit to Anton, and thanks. It is a bit annoying that the parts were designed so that they could be easily mixed up. I guess even Tamiya has improved over the years.

I got the broken suspension arm repaired and repainted, and installed on the tub. It took a second try with epoxy to get it to stay in place, but it looks OK now. I also got the other suspension bits installed, and glued in the front brakes. I had to shrink the size of the hole in the brake rotors to fit some metal pins with wheel nuts that I had left over from a Studio 27 set. I'm using them to replace the screws that came with the kit, but the pins are a smaller diameter.

I also got the mirrors painted and installed some chrome tape for the shiny parts.

I started working on repairing my mistakes with the upper body side pod vents. They were not fun to remove - I guess I did a really good job of gluing them in! It will take some serious putty work to get these to look decent.

Slow progress here - I play drums in a couple of bands, and this summer is getting crazy with gigs. Anyway, I realized that there were more decals to apply to the front of the car, and there were a couple of bumps on the top of the body for antennas. I didn't think I could get the decal to lie down well over the bumps, and there were also some photo-etch fasteners that should not be covered. I shaved off the bumps, and removed the PE fasteners, then applied the large Leyton House decal. I then glued the bumps and fasteners back on, and touched up the bumps to match the decal. Additional decals were applied to the nose and sides of the body.

I finished cleaning up the repairs to the side vents and got some primer on them. Color coat to follow, and then I can finish the decals on the upper bodywork.
