Re: Leyton House CG 901B
The repair looks good!
Don't you think that you could have put the decals on the nose with the bumps too?
I would be of the opinion that with a little more softner it might have been possible after all.
Then you could have saved yourself the additional work. Even if I have to say that it turned out quite well - you seem to have a steady hand on the brush.

Re: Leyton House CG 901B
Thomas - thanks for the kind comments. In retrospect, you're probably right; decal softener would have likely done the job. Oh well, live and learn. This kit has certainly showed me the benefits of learning how to fix mistakes!

Re: Leyton House CG 901B
It was just an idea. I haven't built the model yet, so I can only speak of my experiences with other models and "bumps" and strong curvatures and a lot is already possible that I would not have thought possible before.
Greetings Thomas

Wadny, any updates on your excellent build? How did the bodywork repaint turn out?

I look forward to your updates. I have painted my body and about to start decal work and final assembly on mine.

Re: Leyton House CG 901B
Finally, some updates. I finished sanding and cleaning up the repairs to the radiator outlets on the upper body, so it was ready for repaint.

Re: Leyton House CG 901B
I shot some color coats on the upper body, removed the masking and sanded the edges, and started applying the decals. The white band decals between the green and blue areas had some issues - they weren't quite long enough to join at the rear, so I had to do some touch-up with white paint (I used Tamiya X-2 acrylic which was a decent match) and carefully paint the black lines as well. The rest of the decals went on without any problems.

Re: Leyton House CG 901B
I also got the front wing glued on, but in the process of making sure it was properly located, I broke off the nose cone, so that had to be re-glued. Fortunately, it went back on without any problems. This is what the main chassis looks like at this point.
