Seems like a lot of masking has to be done on this subject, will follow with interest.
Thanks! I typically do, but I didn't have matte black in lacquer form so I stuck with the Alcad paint. Of course now I see that the paint is actually semi-gloss I should have stuck with acrylic after doing a clearcoat on the matte white...but I'll stick with a gloss finish on this build.daniel wrote:Looks like a challenging kit and paintjob. One thing I would do when doing complicated paintjobs. I would try to only use semi/matt paints since I feel they are much easier to work with. Get opaque quicker than gloss and don't creep under masking tape so easily and in the end you seals everything with clear...just a tipAnd peeling of the masking tape is also easier.
A question about license money.Hugeprong wrote:I am intrigued that there are no Le Mans decals in my kit and even the Introductory story in the Instruction Booklet appears to turn verbal somersaults rather than actually mention the words "Le Mans" (referring to the ultimate 24 hour race etc etc!). I imagine that Hiroboy will soon be selling fill-in decals.
Unless I have missed a Le Mans mention somewhere (and I have looked through the instruction booklet twice!), I wonder if this might be another case of some copyright issue preventing the release of a subject as we all know it appeared in real life. If so my heart goes out to Tamiya. I can understand the sensitivity over tobacco ads (not that it bothers me I have to say) but I always thought it was ridiculous issuing kits without Goodyear tyre decals and so on when they had those in real life and other tyre companies weren't bothered about it. I hope Le Mans isnt going down the same rather small-minded route.
Indycals has fill in decals for those who want to do the 24 hours scheme. There are white decals for where the WEC decal should go as well. I'm assuming that the cost of licensing was too much for Tamiya based on the small effect it has on the car.Hugeprong wrote:I am intrigued that there are no Le Mans decals in my kit and even the Introductory story in the Instruction Booklet appears to turn verbal somersaults rather than actually mention the words "Le Mans" (referring to the ultimate 24 hour race etc etc!).
