Could still be a 300SL/SLR. They have tubular chassis too.

Re: 1/12 MFH September 2022
1955 Mercedes 300 SLR (W196S) confirmed.
That's a part of the water cooling circuit just aft of the radiator. In case hotlinking is not allowed, here are the links to two pics (also jfif, which I can't be bovvered to convert just now). I believe it is the 300 SLR since the top of that reservoir (or whatever) in the picture is shown with a rounded top. The photos of the W196R that I've seen show this as having a crest at the top with a central filler cap whereas the 300SLR has a circular cross section with a smooth top and the filler cap on the right hand side (looking towards the front of the car).
Number 1, money shot
Number 2, looking forward from the cockpit
Link to all the goodies at Mercedes Benz.
Here's a shot of the similar but not quite identical assembly on the W196R. On the 1954 W196R the assembly seems, again, to be a bit different.
Kudos to Tommy!

Re: 1/12 MFH September 2022
New picture up, showing Italy.. a larger area of it actually. So I'm guessing Mille Miglia. And if we stick with 1955... oh surprise, a 300 SLR came first. It just happens to be the number #722 car driving by a certain legend, Sir Stirling Moss.
Cheers,
Roman

Still no price up for the SLR -- it's been 2 weeks now. Hm.
Also a sidenote, MFH is looking to hire talent for the Model creation process.

Tanslated via Google.
Sheesh, up to 50 years old only... barely qualifying there

The commute might be an issue too
