Tamiya Cosworth engine
Pretty much anyone who has been building in the F1 category is aware that the Cosworth engines in a lot of the Tamiya kits are quite inaccurate because when the kits were designed, they had a battery box and electric motor inside. With the proliferation of 3D printing I was wondering why no one has created an after market powerplant either a complete replacement power plant and transaxle or replacement parts to fit the Tamiya kit engine, to correct this. I would speculate that it would be wildly popular if the price was reasonable.

Re: Tamiya Cosworth engine
As far I know only the lotus 49 had these engines in 1/12. The other two with electric engines were the Honda and the Matra but they didn't have the Cosworth engine. All of the following kits had the "scale engine".
I guess this is why there hasn't been a big demand for an aftermarket engine.

And in worst case you can make resin copies quite easily...

Re: Tamiya Cosworth engine
Or a more expensive. The engine from MFH. But that seems like overkill for the old Lotus 49 kit. I think that Thunder Valley F1 also was going to do a DFV

Thunder Valley did them - I have several, but I’m not sure if they’re planning another round.
