I emailed liberty media, that in my opinion the Russian F-1 race should be cancelled immediately. I think as F-1 fans we should be saying that F-1 should have nothing to do with Russia unless they pull out of Ukraine.
totally agree

Haas will complete the final day of Formula 1 pre-season testing in a plain white livery ''Motorsport.com''

Who has the authority to cancel and move the race? Liberty, FIA, or F-1?

I think they may also need to get Pietro Fittipaldi some testing time ....

F1 goes to many countries with questionable leadership. I wish they didn’t.

Pushing various ESG platforms, while taking money from, and legitimising some of the worst governments. Hard to get excited about it all...

Also conscious we have some wonderful Russian modellers on this board. Observations on politics are in no way directed at you / them.

Oh yes, the livery they said last year that wasn't the russian flag....
Gene Haas should sell the team to Andretti right now. Get rid of the dependency of the russian sponsor (Vlad's close friend) and keep the team alive in F1. Problem is: will Michael be interested?

But anyway, the hard reality is that bombs are dropping and people of both sides are being killed, and this is disgusting, there or in any part of the world.

You are making the assumption that:
  • Mazapin senior does not already own a majority stake in HaasF1
  • That there is not a contract in place that states that Mazapin senior gets first crack at buying the team if Haas sells it.
Either are possible...

I have always believed that sport is out of politics...like and a modeling. If politics has come here too, I have nothing else to do here. Good Bye.

I had emailed Liberty as well. That more than 24 hours has gone by and they are avoiding the subject is very bad optics. I'm sorry that one of our Russian members felt the need to depart - I think we all realize that the actions of a mad man is not reflective of the Russian people, but it's also sad that he can't see that this is far more than 'politics'.

I guess the Cold War being fought through Olympic competition didn't really happen? Sports has ALWAYS gone with politics, just a sad fact of life. And did anyone notice that Puttin waited until after the winter Olympics to begin his " peace keeping"?
