SeanMAIN, thanks for your reply. I’ll check World of Wayne.
I’ve heard nothing but good about the MP4/4, and if the 312T4 equals it, I’m quite tempted to get one.
F40LM is one of my favourite cars of all times, I really want one…

I ordered two of the 312T4 and sent them both back; although the suspension and engine parts looked good the bodywork was terrible; the upper section was poorly tooled and not smooth, lots of ripples in the metal. The paintwork was all orange peel and dull.If that wasn't enough the decal stripes did not line up on either model, white perimeter edge stripe on the upper body section was poorly applied and make of many pieces and noticeable seams.. The MP4/4 is light years better in body first and paint quality. I would have kept if I could have found someone to produce decals-there I could have stripped it to bare metal and start over.

Eagle, sorry to hear that. Looks like a fun kit to build. I don’t find that particular car very attractive, but would be fun to build. I like to see a 126C2, or the turbo car with the huge wing. 126C3?

It is clear these are really toys for adults and not models at all.
I think that only if you are a a very dedicated modeller can you create a model that is as realistic as a (smaller) 1/12 Italeri / Tamiya model.
Plenty of parts have to be competently rebuilt, with all the time and skill involved to do that.

I admire the passion to do this, I really do, but its not for me :)
Currently building:
Alfa Romeo 159 (since 2021)
Recently finished:
Renault R30 (since 2010)

I would argue that any kit you put detail into requires a similar level of commitment. Some of these kits are better than others, but they are far from toys. They go together and look better the more detail you add, just like any model of any scale. But when I look at any of the 1/8 cars vs the one 1/20 Tamiya F1 car I have, there is no comparison. The 1/8 are far more enjoyable to build and view after. But they are not for everybody.

I totally agree. I am having a lot of fun building the 1/8th 917. Not being concerned with painting glueing or parts not fitting is pleasure and joy. Only downside is it takes two years to complete.
I so love the challenge of building a MFH kit with a new mystery of fit around every corner.
Fortunately I have the space to display and IXO have a reasonably priced display case.
