It’s getting closer, and Meng appears to be taking their time to make sure it’s done right.

More photos on Meng's website which they have a link to. This looks like it is going to be the nicest 1/12 scale kit we have seen in a long time. I plan to order one personally. I am pretty excited about this one. Was beginning to think it was going to disappear as happens now and then with model plans.

Where’d you get a trumpeter for $70??? I have it showing as 258 usd, which is twice the current release without the Ford branding. The one with the ford branding on it ran about $200 usd.

From what i've read, it's a snap-fit kit... :(
I will stick with my Magnifier kit and KA-Models Super Detail set.

The body parts look like they are 1/24 scale thickness. It was rumored that the design of this kit is from WingNutWings which just went out of business - I don't know if I buy that. Still the level of detail reminds me of a DeAgostini 'kit' and not in a good way...

I don't know if that's true or not, but Bandai gundam and Star Wars kits are "snap fit" too and their fit is as good as anything in the industry.

"Snap Fit" doesn't man "crap sold by Monogram/Revell in the 1970s" ONLY.

This kit will be fantastic when it's ready for sale.

Meng has done a few snap fit kits, see their 1/9 Kawasaki Ninja and P-51. I have no reservations about a snap kit based on several reviews. Modelers enjoyed the kits and they look great. Even the painted kits were well done although most modelers preferred the unpainted versions so they could select their own colors.

I’ve built several snap kits from the Bandai line up, and they are wonderful. Check out some reviews of the 1/72 falcon. It’s a delight to build, Don’t fear the snap. As previously said, these aren’t your revell/monogram kid snap kits.

Personally, I’m looking forward to getting the Meng kit.

While I have not built it myself, everything I have heard about the existing Trumpeter kit is slightly negative to extremely negative so I am hopeful this will raise the bar and be more accurate.

As far as the price, it seems like MENG kits vary extremely in cost depending where you order from - for example, their recent release of a 1/32 Fokker DrI kit was $39 from Luckymodel yet some US online retailers were initially selling it for $89 (Squadron) though its now "on sale" there for $79. So I guess time will tell on that...
