So, would the precolored be light blue for the #1 Miles /Hulme car?
Re: GT40 lovers, start your drooling
Based on what we saw on the ninja, yes, you can expect the light blue.

Apparently the kit is already out in the wild. Someone on Bookface has received its kit (from Hong Kong). So far the one shot of the box content looks like same same only differently (=haphazardly) put in the box. I guess we will have to wait for the reviews to come in starting now to see if it is any good and how it compares to the ole Trumpeter kit for about twice the dosh.
I'm a bit giddy - However, seeing the packaging in the box I felt like this might have another chance of broken of parts - let's hope no warping as in many of the first DR.I kits.

Nice! I build the MKII Spyder Sebring from AMR many years back, AMR are still heavy weight models.lala40l wrote:I'll stick to my 1/43 AMR kit

Would you mind sharing where on Wastebook you saw this? It's a very difficult place to search.sky1911 wrote:Apparently the kit is already out in the wild. Someone on Bookface has received its kit (from Hong Kong).

It's in the 1/12 Model Cars Worldwide group. I'm not sure if it is a public group or not.

This guy has started a build, he is a professional, even though its in Japanese........
He builds pretty quickly though.

Some build threads in China have had built and finished it already.

For those who know, what is correct for a 1966 GT40 as far as hoses and lines go, the kit has black rubber hoses, the restoration cars have an fittings with braided line it looks like. Anyone know how it should have looked in 66?

Additional pictures, left Meng, right Trumpeter.

Judging by what I see there seem to be some major differences between the two kits, some might be due to photography or whatnot.
What I see:
- the front between the head lights seems to be a good deal more round than on the relatively straight trumpeter kit
- the head lights seems to have straighter outer edges (seen from above) on the Trumpeter kit. In the photo it seems as if the Meng head light is one long curve, whereas it seems to be two straights connected by a curve on the bottom outside edge.
- the bottom edge of the rear window is straight in the Meng kit and rounded in the Trumpeter kit, which I think is what it was on the '66 MKII and MKI cars (no expert on GT40s)
- chassis on the Meng seems to be shorter in general with shorter pontoons etc.
Comparing these two via photo comparisons it would seem to *me* that the two models are fairly different and maybe the Trumpeter is still more on the money, which would be disappointing really. Why? Because why release something new (new tooling and all) that may be a tad inaccurate here and there (but hopefully has a considerable better overall fit than the, in parts, appalling Trumpeter) for twice the money of the older kit.
Again, just my observation based on comparing photos, not actual criticism as I only have one of the two in hand.
