Trumpeter has also steering wheel linked to the front wheel.

You might want to lock in your pre-orders for the MENG kit now. Per Mac's latest newsletter, RRP is to be around $500. (which seems nuts to me - from the renderings, it'd be a decent 1/24 kit, but the details look pretty clunky for 1/12)
Alternatively, Lucky Model have a few of the Trumpeter kits in stock @ $60 plus shipping.

Je ne regrette rien.

I thought Meng needed to bring this in at under $300, say $250 range. I want one but not right now at over $300.00. I think i am going to make it a saved search on ebay and buy one sometime next year when I can get a deal.

Great Hobbies here in Canada currently has it listed at $400 CDN (little more than $300 USD). But of course not in stock yet so likely subject to change.

If you use Derek Collin's tires, they come with the spare and it fits in the Trumpeter trunk.sky1911 wrote:The renders do look nice indeed. Working steering is a first, I believe - I don't recall that from the Trumpeter kit, but I could be wrong as it has been a long while since I had that box opened. It would seem they have an actual fitting spare wheel and maybe even the hood fits flush with the spare in place. That would be another first . The no snip PE is nice as well. Other than that I didn't notice anything that would either tick me off or please me beyond normal "expectations".

Re: GT40 lovers, start your drooling
New photos just posted on Great Models, they are apparently releasing it in precolored plastic. However to my eye it just looks like that pre colored plastic. So it is a really expensive way of making a model that still looks like plastic. I would prefer it all be molded in grey or white and sell for 300 or less. I am not saying I pass, I will wait. I think there will be a deal on one at some point.
Re: GT40 lovers, start your drooling
If it is the pre colored version, then they would likely do what they did with the ninja. A painted, more expensive version and an unpainted cheaper version. I’d prefer to paint it myself.

Re: GT40 lovers, start your drooling
On Hobbyeasy the GT40 (Kit Nr RS-002) is listed at 196€ with a release date of 24th of November. That's a lot less than $300. Just saying, but it's HK...
Anyway, depending on packaging or whatnot (this box might be huge), that could add substantially to the shipping. That aside, I have recently got 2 of the 1/32 Meng Fokker DR.I kits for 10€ shipping and a very good price (31€ for regular and 44€ or thereabouts for the limited edition).
Daves, I know about the Derek's tires. I was just pointing out that the Trumpeter kit oob doesn't work that way and has a few shortcomings . Glad you didn't mention the KA-models addon kit that is beautiful but mostly useless (cough exhaust, cough axles)

There would appear to be two versions of the kit, referencing Meng's website box art, as well as Great Hobbies Canada .... CS-004 Pre-coloured - Price TBA, and RS-002 (No mention of coloured plastic) at $399.99 CAD .... roughly $300 US with free shipping.
