Interesting; thanks for sharing.
Mines on order from HLJ.
What TS spray do the instructions list for the moncoque, engine cowl etc?

TS-89: Pearl Blue - this is a new colour which apparently is not yet available. Tamiya Canada did not even bother a response to my question as to when it would be available.Tigers wrote:Interesting; thanks for sharing.

TS-47: Chrome Yellow - this one should be readily available.

In my opinion, Tamiya TS-16 Yellow would be better for the yellow. It's more "yellow" than TS-47, in my experience.SanMarino wrote:TS-89: Pearl Blue - this is a new colour which apparently is not yet available. Thanks; I thought a new colour was being made but considering the model is now out it is surprising it is not yet available.SanMarino wrote:TS-89: Pearl Blue - this is a new colour which apparently is not yet available. Dont be fooled by the yellow. Its not that bright in the flesh.CBartholomew4677 wrote:In my opinion, Tamiya TS-16 Yellow would be better for the yellow. Having experience of the colour, TS47 is a very close match.
Also, the colours on the RB6 are quite different to the current RB8

Re: Kit Review - Tamiya 1/20 Red Bull Racing Renault RB6
Although I appreciate Tamiya's effort producing this kit, I wish they would have just left the engine bay closed, it is not very well represented at all, did a quick search on images on Google and found some great pictures, including a 1/12 paper board model of the RB6 and RB7 which was impressive, but agree with the author and creator of that the Tamiya effort is far from accurate, there should be a separate engine and the cover they represent is all in the same plain and completly inaccurate - the silver portion anyway - so maybe a curbside unless someone produces a more accurate substitute
IMHO Fujimi are really stepping up the game with their F1 cars and others, just got the new street Ferrari from them and their drop in engine is fabulous, the detail is amazing, their F10 looks good as well
Tamiya needs to step up their game, and also their insistence on not eliminating mold release marks, everywhere, is alarming, the hood underside on the Fujimi street Ferrari has no mold release marks - simply amazing.

Re: Kit Review - Tamiya 1/20 Red Bull Racing Renault RB6
Right, so that is the main image I found, so the covering is plain to see and there is an obvous demarcation to the engine itself, valve covers I presume, and below where the exhausts mount, etc. although I am being picky, there is an obvious error in the kit here where there should have been a separate engine and cover, wondering if it is worth stealing an engine from another plastic kit and just cutting off the section in the Tamiya kit that is obvoiusly wrong on the one piece engine/cover and just faking it in?

It really looks like the kit has some sort of 'panel line' in the silver sections of the engine covering which look about the same as the openings in that image. Even down to the hole for the radiator hose to pass through the covering.
It's not all the accurate, but pretty close.

I tnink there is a piece of the aluminum coloured engine cover(forward part)that has been removed in the photo that Eric found.
