First attempt at 1/43 - Benetton B191b - Martin Brundle

Post by monkfish »

Happy Sunday!

I would like to present to you my first attempt at a 43rd kit.

Back in October 2020, I was browsing the 'bay and spotted two Tameo kits for a decent price. They weren't complete, but I thought for the money, I would grab them and give them a go.

The first one I attempted was this Benetton B191b - which was missing instructions and decals. I managed to source some decals, but had to make do with incomplete screen grabs of the instructions and use a little intution to put the kit together.

It's not actually a true Benetton B191b - it's actually a B191 with some conversion and a set of B191b decals on it.

Despite my initial apprehension, I really enjoyed putting this 1/43rd together. It's not perfect by any means, and there are quite a few mistakes on it, but for a first experience at this scale, I am pretty pleased on how it has turned out.

If you can't see the pics below, you can check out the model on my website here - http://www.racecraftmodels.co.uk/portfo ... ton-b191b/

Feel free offer your feedback, thanks for having a peek!

Thanks! I don’t understand why they aren’t more popular. I actually enjoyed putting this together more than a 1/20.

A great addition to my collection !

Really nice builts....

I personally love 1/43, especially the high-detal kits with all those fine details in turned metal and photoetched. I'm in the finishing stages of the Tameo WCT 158, amazing kit.
But I put in on hold until I figure out how to perfectly attach the windscreen....really difficult !?

My last finished 1/43

Looks nice for the fist attemp on a 43 kit!
I did the Schumacher version, still love the early 90th cars. Agree that it is a shame that not much 43 builds are around here, it`s a lovely scale and safes a lot of space in your cabinet.
Take a stand!

Thanks! it was a steep learning curve, but worth it. I've bought several to build...really enjoyable.

And yes...you can fit so many more in the cabinet!

Thank you...certainly not at your level quite yet! That's amazing!
Those high detail kits must take some time...I manged to ping a few parts across the desk quite a few times, then spend 10 minutes looking for them.
