Build Diary: Ferrari 643

Post by wixy500 »

Hi all.

I recently finished building Rosso's 1/43 Ferrari 643 of Alain Prost. Had quite a few fitment issues which affected the build, but it doesn't look out of place in the display cabinet.

As usual, I've put a Build Diary on my blog with photos and tips for anyone else who might have a crack at this kit.

I really like it. Nice work on the 1/43 plastic F1 kits - they can be fun!

Five years  after finishing this kit, I've created a YouTube video of the build - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7c4UHhWxR4

I have done the Rosso 641 and now I am in the middle of the 642 both are grade up versions which include chrome foil to make the engine protection underneath it, Photo etch cast white metal coolant lines and a couple other items. I am extremely happy with the Plastic body and pan with the metal tub, fuel tank , and transmission. The photo etch is very nice and easy to handle. I am also doing several Brands of Carbon Fibre/Kevlar decal work on the pan and parts of the tub also the correct parts that visible on the body/chassis. Great Kits I wish I could afford the 1/8 Rosso kit that has a real Carbon Fibre Body and assorted parts just like the real car. Now out of production they can be bought in the Thousands of dollars... I will try to post the 1/43 642 when done...Chris

Beautiful build of a beautiful car indeed!! I my opinion next to the jordan 191 one of the greatest basic clean designs of the early 90s.
@Pmodwrks, you are confusing the rosso kit with the 126c2 Promocom kit. Rosso kit bodywork is pre painted metal, i have built one, cool and impressiv model.
