WIP: 1/20 Leyton House March 881
hi guys, in between waiting for paint & glue to dry on my FW16, I started also the 1/20 ST27 March 881, the Leyton House car from 1988. I suppose it's the "grandfather" of the FW16...
Quite a simple curbside kit, so far it's been easy to put together. The nose is a separate piece and the body needed a little sanding to sit flush with the nose. The kit is supposed to represent the Japanese GP version, but the model has some inaccuracies. However I'm happy for it to be an adequate representation rather than a super accurate one so I won't fix it all up. Hence also no CF decals, these areas will just be painted black.
More updates soon, also on the FW16.
Model sprayed with Tamiya TS41 Coral Blue, from the can. It has had a little polishing with micromesh & polishing compound. Currently drying & then I will shoot some final wet coats onto it.
Cockpit area, steering wheel still to be done. The belt material & buckles are 1-piece photoetched pieces that come with the kit, painted blue & then the buckles are scraped to reveal the silver colour underneath. The tachometer decal was a spare I had, it's a bit basic but there was no decal that came with the kit.

Thanks FuelBuzzed, this is a kit from Studio27, I think it was released about 8 or 9 years ago, there is a build article on it in Scale Auto Modeler October 2000.

Hi Jeff.
Good to see a WIP produced by you.
Beautiful machine and 100% correct the color choice.
Now I understand the "Blue Plants"...
Cheers,
Sandro.

Nice paint job.. is this polished colour prior to clear coat & eventually decals?
Re: WIP: 1/20 Leyton House March 881
Don't think so. Tried both options (TS and Zero) and must say the Zero paints match far better the Leyton House color.NP#3TIMES wrote:Hi Jeff.

Sandro.
Great start so far, just in case you still need some material:

F1 Modeling just being back, giving to everybody their photos is not the best way to help them
Re: WIP: 1/20 Leyton House March 881
F1 Modeling Vol. 27 is marked "Discontinued" and is not longer published by the manufacturer and sold out in common shops.
In this case the copyright allows to make a copy available for friends.
And - btw, F1 Modeling should help themself and publish the magazines in english and not in japanese.

Got one at a store next my home.I'm still hesitating to get it, only thing I regret is the total coral blue scheme.
I'll see how yours turns out.
Good start anyways
